Remote Support
With the improved communication speeds of Broadband and specific Internet based Hardware the use of remote support has never been better. For general software support and day to day maintenance many issues can be resolved this way.

Global have extensive knowledge and experience of the following systems. Please contact us if you would like advice on any of these systems for your workplace.

Virtual Private Network
a VPN is a private network that uses a public network (usually the Internet) to connect remote sites or users together. Instead of using a dedicated, real-world connection such as leased line, a VPN uses "virtual" connections routed through the Internet from the company's private network to the remote site or employee.

A well-designed VPN can greatly benefit a company. For example, it can:
. Extend geographic connectivity
. Improve security
. Reduce operational costs versus traditional WAN
. Reduce transit time and transportation costs for remote users
. Improve productivity
. Simplify network topology
. Provide global networking opportunities

A well-designed VPN should incorporate:
. Security
. Reliability
. Scalability
. Network management
. Policy management

Remote Administrator
Remote Administrator is the fastest remote control software available. It is optimized for low-bandwidth connections such as modems. Connecting via modem, screen refresh rates reach 5-10 updates per second. If connected to a LAN you can work on remote computers with real-time speed, reaching over 100 screen updates per second.

Radmin supports the following operating systems: Windows 9x/ME/NT4.0/2000/XP/2003*. It can work as a service under all supported operating systems, which allows you to logon and logoff a user remotely. Radmin supports Windows NT/2000/XP/2003* user level security. You can give the right of remote control to a specific user or user group. If Windows NT security support is switched off, access to a remote computer is controlled by password. Remote Administrator uses a challenge-response password authentication method similar to that used in Windows NT, but with more powerful security keys. It supports multiple connections on both server and client sides and allows the controlling of multiple remote computers and the viewing of multiple sessions on one screen.

Other Features include clipboard transfers, remote shutdown, 16 color (4 bits per pixel) network transfer mode. The /stop command kills all running Radmin servers on the computer. Optional 'Incoming connection' dialog box on server side with optional Tray icon on server side with computer IP address and current connection list. Tray icon changes its state when an active connection persists and a notification beeps when a user connects to the server.

Symantec pcAnywhere

Mandatory password protection and login encryption help ensure that only authorised users can access a pcAnywhere host. It has powerful file-transfer capabilities which enables the user to get files needed whilst away from the office, or to allow syncronisation between work and home computers. The pcAnywhere command queue lets you run simple batch transfers of files, folders or commands among multiple devices.

Remote management tools allow the user to directly access vital operating system utilities such as Command Prompt, Task Manager and Services on the remote system.
